Around the world…

February 28, 2010

Just a quick note to prove that I use my multiple accounts for good as well…

This afternoon, after suffering through a FailPUG that eventually ended in my early departure from the group I got a request to do one of my “Around the World with Tutunkommon” events.

Logging back into my poor, lonely warlock, I proceeded to grab an old multi-box toon and got a DK on a third account. We got a nice little raid group together of lowbie alts and proceeded to warlock-summon them to all the flight points in Eastern Kingdom. We then crossed the sea, and picked up a few more.

At that point, I logged out for the night, feeling the warm glow of helping others. Of course, I got to harvest many souls in order to create the summoning stones, which made me happy too!

Told you so…..

The girls in Southshore

There they are, in all their shamanistic glory.  When I feel sad or unloved, I go to Ironforge and do some synchronized running / totem throwing / whatever else looks cool.

I do have to say, Muradin must be one of the most Multi-boxing friendly servers out there.  I read on dual-boxing from time to time about how other boxers get /spit on, verbally abused, or reported to GM’s constantly, but other than once or twice, and those were even fairly tame, I just don’t have any good, Tamarind-worthy stories.  If I get any, I will be sure to share.  Maybe I just need to go hang out in Goldshire more…

Where would you live?

February 24, 2010

Stealing this from BioBreak, I would like to put a bit of a WoW spin on it:

If you were to move you and/or your family to Azeroth, where would you live?  Ignore level restrictions, etc.  What zone or area of the world would you want to wake up in every day and why?

I would probably pick southern Elwynn Forest.  It seems moderately pastoral, but close enough to the big city to not be inconvenient.  As long as I didn’t get too much noise from the mine.  Horde side, I would agree that Mulgore would be a good place, for exactly the same reasons.

You?

PS:  I found the picture of the 4 boxers, but didn’t like it.  I will take another and post it today.  No, really…  Yes I will…

Gnomeregan…

February 24, 2010

ugh… It *has* been almost 3 weeks since my last post. My only excuse: The 4-boxers were in Gnomer, which can make a person downright suicidal. I heard rumor that the gnomes were getting the upper part of Gnomeregan back, but that the instance would be preserved. Why?

To be fair, I don’t mind the layout of Gnomer, in the context of old-world instances. It is long. It is winding. There is no map, and no back door out of the place. None of this offends me at all. I like it, in fact. At least, I would if the stuff I killed would STAY FREAKIN’ DEAD!!!!!!!

Srsly, that is my complaint. IF you wipe, you have basically reset the instance, since everything is respawned. I can’t imagine who thought that was a good idea. As if the frustration of everyone dying wasn’t bad enough, you now get to start the entire process over.

But, the girls progressed to level 30, I got reincarnation, and moved on to the Scarlet Monastery. Stuff still comes back to life, but not nearly as much.

The graveyard feels so anti-climactic. I got through the torture room, past the courtyard, down into the crypt and killed big, bad, what’s-his-undead-face. Looked around a bit and realized ‘I guess that’s it.’

So that’s it. I ground Gnomer until I didn’t have to anymore, managed to psychologically recover, and moved on. I have a screen shot of the 4 boxers in action. I will post it as part of my next entry.

’till next time!

Couldn’t have said it better myself….

Here is some insight as to why so many people are finding themselves becoming tired of the game, myself included.

Weekend Update….

February 8, 2010

Ah, my shamans (shamii? Sham-wow?). Yes, I am still carrying on about my 4-boxing team. I pounded through the Stormwind Stockades this weekend, bringing Basil Thredd to his untimely demise, multiple times. I respecced two of the shammies recently, one of them to Resto, the other to enhancement. The Resto girl is now in all cloth, and makes a fairly effective healer, while the enhancement toon can hold her own, somewhat, as the ‘tank’. I use quotes, because she is less tanking than she is frost shocking for threat, swinging her big hammer, and dodging as much as she can. The other big help was getting my mana stream totems. Now I throw down 2 healing streams, and 2 mana streams, and it makes all the difference in the world. I am trying to decide where to go next. I hear that SFK is full of magic-resist mobs, which would be rather inconvenient. I want to try the DF again, but after the trainwreck that turned out to be last time, I am afraid of it slightly. I need a guildie that has a mid to upper 20′s tank-ish character, but alas, I am unblessed.

In other news, here is what to avoid: If you are invited to run OS-25 for the weekly heroic quest, don’t forgot to get the quest. Imhoughtep The Idiot (It’s a new title… look it up) managed to get all the way through and kill Sarth, got no loot, and after leaving the instance, I actually got as far as clicking the flight master to head toward Dalaran before I realized I had no reason to go there after all.

Oh, and another thing. If you are in a 25 man, a 10 man, or even a group of more than just your greedy self… I PROMISE you that you are not the only skinner in Azeroth. And since some of us are not greedy bastards, we don’t jump in and ninja-skin Sarth the second after the loot is out. In fact, some of us ask to roll on the skinning BEFORE YOU EVEN DID IT!!!!

I know, QQ… Still. I ask to roll on skinning, and then NEDruid on Muradin about 10 seconds later runs in, skins, yells ‘Thanks!’ and drops group. Argh! I mean, I probably would have lost it anyway. I rolled a 1 on the bag for crying out loud. Not the point.

People ask me why I enjoy multi-boxing. I can assure you that Hàtshepsut has never swiped loot from Hátshepsut.

Not even once.

More Multi-boxing…

February 2, 2010

I am starting to question whether I should just buy another account, and go full on with a 5-box team, rather than try to keep going with the 4 girls. I suspect I would pull some pretty heavy wife-aggro for firing up another account, though.

Consequently, I continue with four. Somehow, one of the girls got ahead of the others on rested XP, so she is now about a half level ahead of the other three. I decided that she should be the healer, and respecced her resto, and bought new gear for her. I re-wrote a couple macros to make the healing magic happen, and ran half of deadmines. It seemed to go well, so after striking out in my guild trying to find a tank to test with, I queued up in LFG. A level 20 dwarf arrives, and seems cool with the team.

It ended badly.

My assist macro backfired. I ended up trying to DPS him down rather than the mobs. the healing worked, but the rest sucked. He apparently had great faith in me, because he pulled about 6 mobs over on the first pull. As we stood around the graveyard, I apologized, and told him I would take the debuff and dropped group. I figured out my macro issues, but decided to 4-man stockades instead. In stocks, the healer dinged 25, the others are still at 24.

I tried implementing HotKeyNet’s panel and button system. I created several buttons off of the wow clients that, when pressed, would do things like send /wave to all 4 clients. The trickiest one was mounting. /run callcompanion(“MOUNT”,1) is how you do it, but something was just not working out. My hope was to eliminate some of the extra keybinds that I have for emotes, mount and dismount, etc. I ended up stripping all of it out though, as it was just unreliable. I apologize here to all the guildies that had to listen to to my macros spamming guild chat with various slash commands.   oops!

So eliminating keybinds is out.  I felt a bit strange doing it that way anyway, as I think that is in the grey area of the Terms of Service.  Blues and GMs have always said that multiboxing is ok as long as you stayed with the ‘one keypress triggers one event’ rule.  Ie:  If I press F1 on my keyboard, that sends the F1 key to each of the 4 clients, and all four hop up onto their elekk ellek elephant and off we go.  Technically that is still what was happening, but it was sending way more than one keystroke to the clients.  I think I will keep the panel, but implement obscure keybinds to make it work (Ctrl-Alt-Shift-; anyone?)  I will still need to drop those onto bartender somewhere, but I can hide that bar and be happy with life.

If anyone wants to see how my scripting and macros work, drop a note and I will detail them.   You can also check out www.dual-boxing.com since a lot of what I have is taken from there.

Finally, I have been getting a lot more attention lately in game with the MB team.  Whenever I am outside an instance, I probably spend 1/4 of my time talking about multi-boxing.  Most of it is very positive but, obviously, not all.  This is WoW after all.  I was running through SW on my way to stocks last night when someone whispers me to call me a rich @#$%  (yes, I leave the language filter on.  My kids play on that computer too).

Me:  ??

Overly hostile person whose name I forgot: 4 accounts, that’s $60 a month.  what a waste

Me:  Not really.  I spend more on other hobbies.  Mostly my R/C airplanes.

OHPWNIF: lol.  idiot.

Me:  ??

OHPWNIF:  You must have a high end computer too.

Me:  No, just 2 mediocre.

OHPWNIF:  rich $%$@

/sigh.  Oh well.  I guess it could be worse.  I haven’t had anyone report me for botting or cheating yet.  Still waiting for that one.

Thus ends another exciting day in the world of four shaman boxing.  Maybe if enough people leave comments that I should start a fifth account, I can show my wife that the public demands it.

That’s sure to work!
